It’s been a day…

Not all bad. Definitely not a 10 out of 10 recommend either.

The good: I wore my new Dr. Martens with the snaffle today. They’re fuchsia and suede! I have to admit that I didn’t know what a snaffle was. (And I’m technically a farm girl—genealogically speaking—because Dad was a farmer. With horses even. I’m sure he is even more disappointed in me now.)

These shoes brought the sass. Absolutely love them. White socks were not the move though. I now have stained (in spots) fuchsia and white socks. Worth it!

The neutral: went grocery shopping. I bought fresh fruit and veg and zero junk food. Another questionable life choice to ponder.

The not awesome: I’m not going to get into it yet, but it’s the kind of thing that just sits in the background of everything else. Even when the day is mostly fine, everything feels slightly heavier. You know, like when your mom-superpower that fixes everything with a kiss on the forehead suddenly goes on the fritz and you can fix nothing. Nothing at all.

The irksome: Poppy will not stop licking me right now. OMG. 🤬 Not in a cute, “aww my dog loves me” way. In a relentless, slurpy, personal space is a myth kind of way. Now I’m dog drool moist and my lotion is gone.

I moved. She repositioned and kept licking. I squirmed. She laid on my feet to hold them in place. WHILE SHE LICKED THEM. 🤢

I’m starting to think this is less affection and more doggy terrorism. I am irrationally annoyed.

Overall: not a 10/10. More like a 7/10 but the shoes carried it.

And it is good to have a 12- pound chaos gremlin to love, even though she is licking between my toes against my will.

The Glitter and the Grief

Too sentimental for minimalism. Too tired for shame.
